I just finished installing a plugin that will let you share or save the articles of this website, you can now find it at the end of each post. It supports virtually any kind of service that you use (Facebook, Twitter, Digg, etc).

Don’t you love technological convergence?

Cleared-To-Engage passes 4000 visitors

This website has reached more than 4000 visitors in just 20 days since its creation. When I opened it, I did not expect it to become this popular and to receive connections from all over the world as the visitors map shows.

Thank you for your interest, comments, emails and support. This is the proof that the simulation community is not dying but it’s just waiting for something new to happen. And I believe  soon it will.

Books page added

I just added a page with some of my favourite books related to aviation or flight simulation. If you have any other favourite book you would like to share and add to the shelf please write me an email or a quick comment.

Prologue

“Cleared-To-Engage” is about serious flight simulators, mostly combat ones. It is not about arcade videogames who pretend to be simulators. If you like these kind of no-brain games this place is not for you.

It would be long and complicate to explain why I like simulators so much but I know that it definitely has to do with my dreams to become a fighter pilot and fly fast military jets. I tried the first of my sims (“Falcon AT” by Spectrum HoloByte) in 1988 when I was only 5 and now, many years after, I am still here loving them.

In this blog I will write about pilots, aviation, old and new simulators and other Sierra Hotel. But I will also use this weblog to share the developments of my sim work that I will release in the future, so stay tuned! I’ve been thinking to create this website for a long time and I decided it was finally time.

(This is the cover of Falcon AT from 1988, when it all started for me! )
