Here are a few new screenshots of my recent texturing work on the terrain. Sorry for skipping two previous updates on December and January, I had to give priority to my job and delay the work on this project.
During that time I received defeatist comments and emails that I don’t think were really necessary. Do not assume that the project stopped just because I missed a couple of updates, F.L.A.R.E is very alive! As I wrote some time ago when I started working on it, I plan to stick to it until it’s completed. No need to jump to wrong conclusions just because my real job temporarily slows down my texturing time.
After all I didn’t even stop when a certain person from the (dead) FreeFalcon team threatened me and my family with legal actions if I didn’t stop working on this project. I kept that email and I read it every once in a while because it’s hilarious and it makes me want to work even harder. One of these days I may even post it with his real name, not the fake one he tried to use. I think the first of April is the perfect day for these kind of things…
Anyway, rest assured that sooner or later you will be flying over F.L.A.R.E tiles!

Hehe, the Falcon community never ceases to amaze me
You are doing an amazing job. Keep it up and never mind the bollocks!
Lee
Hummm… Does that water have reflections?
Cheers
Tulkas
Giorgio keep doing this amezing work and forget all the other …
i am sure all will be amezed when the work will finished , and i hope soon ….
->suggestion :post also some HD video in feature tex demo.
ALL we are with you!!
talking about water reflecion, those screenshots are obviously photoshopped !!!
Ho wait…that is the main point of the FLARE work :p
holy wow!!!!!!!
Amazing job!!
Thanks Giorgio
Looks awesome but…
can you please explain the reflections on water?
“the (dead) FreeFalcon team threatened”
Why do you need to post such things? Do you love flame posts…?
Maybe there are some interesting person in FF team but this does not mean that dev team is dead. I’m fed up with posts that suggest “FF is a dead thing”. Give me any proof about BMS or major developing in OF area.
BTW, the screens are nice. Sometimes I get a hunch that you use BMS4.
Looking very good !
hahahahahahahahahaha nice to see some *** updates
I, for one, am very excited and gratified that someone with your talent is doing so much to update and keep alive our beloved Falcon 4.0
Thanks for the comments and support guys. I really appreciate your interest and excitement for the project.
@mav-jp: You got me and I have to admit it… Photoshop was used! How did you know? It could have been GIMP with the DDS plugin…
@Tulkas, Harpoon: For now I do not plan to release specific details until the work is completed. This is work-in-progress so it’s constantly changing and maturating. Too early to enter into secondary details…
@Geraki: Thanks man! Video will come when it’s the right time to make you guys drool…
@molnibalage: Dude, this is not a public forum, this is my blog. The difference is that here I can tell the truth and nobody can ban me or censor me. I believe in freedom of speech and I’m proud to administrate this website in a liberal way. As a proof of this I approved your comment even if I didn’t like it.
What I wrote in the post it’s not a joke. I really received that threatening email and I am not afraid to make it public. The email is real and should make you reflect on why a member of your “team” feels the need to do that.
That being said, It’s not a secret that I’m not a FF fanboy so if you are fed up maybe you should stop reading what I write. And finally, about the “dead” word… I’m not the right person to explain you what active development means and I’m sure someone else can give you the picture in a much more “entertaining” way (mav-jp do you read me?)
@swampy11: Thank you. This is my passion and I’m happy to help and improve in the areas that I know.
@Giorgio Bertolone
Yes, this is your blog. I simply do not understand if you mention an issue with FF team why did not name exaclty the ‘source’ of issue…
For ex. if I have problems with mav-jp I will name him.
BTW, mav-jp can say anythig about what means an active development for him it is wortless for me, until he can’t proofe anything. BMS4 can be as good looking as possible but if its DB will be almost the same as OF, it means that I have to do serious tweaks to make it usable for me…
@molni, no problem you can name me LOL
i’ll tell you something, if you are not happy with the DB, just dont fly it, period
For your information, we dont agree with most of the changes you have proposed to the DB, many things were proven wrong by other people…no need to debate and you know why:
WHO CARES ?
One Word – OUTSTANDING –
Giorgio you are one of the few – who keep the SPIRIT of the Facon alive THANK YOU
regards to you in Vancouver
“For your information, we dont agree with most of the changes you have proposed to the DB,”
Why? Why is good if an AC use a weapon that never could use? AIM-120 on F-14? Are you kidding? pls. put AIM-54 on F-15 if you do not care…
I have a statement. If BMS4 will be ever relased and it will be stable and usable maybe I will try to do the same that I’m doing currently. I will make a storngly tweaked and much more accurate DB for BMS/OF too.

Cheers
@ Monli : MavJP said “Most” … “MOST” doesn’t means “ALL”! ;)
And … BMS4′s (if exist) DB is not necessary the same that OF’s one!?… And no one said that it will be perfect!
@ Raptor: Yep … However : http://www.anft.net/f-14/f14-detail-aim120.htm
The AIM-120 AMRAAM (= Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile) is a medium-range air-to-air missile and should have replaced the F-14′s AIM-7 Sparrow. But todays F-14A/B/D do not have the capability to carry and fire the AIM-120 because – even though missile tests were conducted (see below photo) – the integration of the AMRAAM into fleet F-14s was rated as too cost intensive. Thus the program was killed.
…
Wow, haven’t visited in a while. Lots of great work and even some ‘drama’ too
So many frustrated people trying to protect their ‘precious’ name in Falcon.
I am so happy that you are working on this project Girgio. It will add a lot to BMS. You and Jan Haas are the ‘dudes’ in Falcon at the moment as far as I am concerned.
Please keep up your great work.
GREAT work, Giorgio! Keep it up! I am absolutely thrilled to see what you are doing with Falcon’s terrain! Thanks for your hard work.
Looks very good. The water seems to be using the same pixel shader as in the BMS screenshot. Hopefully this means development is continuing on BMS4 and it will see the light of day in the near future. I can dream I guess.
