F.L.A.R.E Development Update – November 2010

During the last weeks I couldn’t work a lot on FLARE because I was very busy with my real life job. Nonetheless I managed to find some hours to dedicate on the mountain and city tiles. I hope to have more stuff to show next month.

Please add some rivers water with blue-green and blue-grey colour.

In addition the rivers patch must follow mountain foothill.

and some water falls if it is possible to be viewable from close.

Also add some texture with rock and snow not only green textures. keep doing this super jod!

    Thanks for the screenshots Giorgio.
    Brilliant job as always :)

Were these shots taken in new BMS or in OF4.7?
That white-ish coloured haze/fog, I mean, not only the texures but also the distance view of the mountains looks so nice.

Thanks guys, there will be a video but only when F.L.A.R.E is almost completed. There is still a lot of work to do. My daily job is keeping me very busy so it will take some time to finish this project but I will get it done.

@Geraki: Blue rivers would not be realistic, the rivers in Korea are muddy with grey and yellow colors. This is how I plan to do most of the small ones with exception for the large ones, these ones will probably have colors a little bit closer to blue, but not too much. Regarding the mountain textures, I’m still working on them. If you don’t see some specific ones in the screenshots (like the snow ones) it’s not because I’m ignoring them, it’s because I haven’t started them yet.

And what about BMS? Since early days of Sept. we still have no got answer why our konwledge and approach is so outdated… :)

Please Keep up the good work you are doing. There are still many of us faithful to this sim even though it is getting up in years. I’m sure you must be familiar with DCS A-10. I’ve been playing with the beta version and while it is looking very promising, don’t see myself relenquishing Falcon (MAYBE if they come out with a viper version), however the the Falcon campaign still appears to be far superior to anything seen to date.

    Great Job….

    keep up the good work

    @Dee-Jay

Dont shit yourself. No real BMS release since 2.0 and even that was forced by FF who just took it and released it with FF31 first, IIRC. Only after that BMS released the “official” 2.0 build.

Without FF releasing some shit once in a while and without that BMS leak, Falcon would be dead by now and BMS wouldnt have done shit about it.

Well, even as it is Falcon is as good as dead. OF is a buggy slide show with great avionics but not much more – unusable.

FF is at least as buggy with good FPS and nice GFX but campaigns are hopelessly ruined. It just doesnt work either.
Its supporters are either some newbs or TE flying screenshot makers.

If you really want to fly Falcon, then AF is the only option.
Sad but true. But who wants to fly that old shit?

I fly F4 since Dec 98, virtually every version – we used to hook up local MP sessions with friends. I can honestly say that since SP3 no other version was good enough to simply fly coop-campaigns without getting frustrated. Now AF will do again. But of course that misses a lot of improvements the other versions have. Unfortunatly the other versions all broke while getting improved. Thats why we had no MP sessions for quite some time – just no version we want to use.

I have not much hope for BMS coming around the corner to save Falcon. Either they have nothing to release or they dont want to. Either way its the same for years already there is no reason to believe in any change of the situation.

@Dude: When you want to release something that is not broken like all the other versions (as you said) then you need a lot of time, resources and internal testing.

You write that BMS doesn’t have nothing to release or they don’t want to. I suggest this third option: they need more time so the sim is stable and nothing is broken.
